As a Senior Sniper Team Leader, you'll lead a team of 1-5 snowfighters in efficiently managing and clearing snow and ice from some of Toronto’s most prominent commercial and residential properties.

You will be responsible for overseeing and executing snow removal operations, ensuring high standards in snow plowing, salting, andde-icing while managing a dedicated team. You’ll work with advanced equipment,including heavy-duty plow trucks, and can develop and refine your leadership skills in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

This is not just another job—this is a critical role inkeeping Toronto’s streets, driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots safe andaccessible throughout the winter. You’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your snow removal expertise on a range of sites, all while working alongside a committed, skilled team of snowfighters.

Important Sniper Team Info: In this role, you will be only responsible for snow plowing and salting duties. No yard work oradditional duties will be required beyond those needed to complete yourassigned route for weather events. Outside of the first two weeks of employment (for training and season opening activities) and the last two weeks (optional, for end-of-season cleanup), you will never be asked to perform any other tasks (save for refresher training as required).

As a senior team leader and snow plow driver, you will be responsible for operating heavy-duty plow trucks with v-box spreaders and managing medium-sized crews for private properties. Your duties will include quality control, efficient completion of work, and basic support tasks such as equipment maintenance and staff scheduling.

Winter Employment Contract

Our winter employment contract is an extended six-month contract that operates according to the weather and on an on-call basis. This requires an open schedule and availability at short notice. What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a Crew: You will manage a team of 1-5 snowfighters, directing them to safely and efficiently complete snow plowing and salting operations across your assigned properties. As the leader, your role will include making key decisions, ensuring quality work, and maintaining safety standards during every snow event.
  • Operate Heavy-Duty Plow Trucks: Drive and operate advanced, heavy-duty plow trucks with 10+ foot snow plows and 3+ yard v-box spreaders. You'll be responsible for efficiently clearing snow, applying de-icing materials, and maintaining high service standards across commercial and residential sites.
  • Snow Removal Focus: This position is dedicated to snow plowing and salting. You will never be asked to handle yard work or non-snow related tasks. Your focus will be entirely on maintaining the integrity and safety of your assigned properties through snow removal operations.
  • On-Call Availability: You must be available on an on-call basis, ready to respond to snow events at any time of day or night, including overnight shifts and weekends. Flexibility is key to this role as winter weather can be unpredictable, and timely snow removal is critical. This is an emergency response position, so your attendance is mandatory for all scheduled plowing and salting shifts.
  • Refresher Training: While this is asenior role, we believe in constant improvement. Training will be availablethroughout the season, allowing you to further refine your skills in advancedsnow removal techniques, as well as improve your leadership and team managementabilities. By participating in training during seasonal breaks, you willcontinue to grow and enhance your skills in the field, ensuring that you’reprepared for any challenges.

Position Summary:

  • Master Snow Plow Driver: Lead snow removal operations for high-profile properties in Toronto, exclusively focused on snow plowing and salting for weather-triggered events.
  • Competitive Pay: Earn well over $20,000 per winter season for less than 500 hours of work, based on snow events. This opportunity offers excellent pay, with additional income potential during high-demand periods.
  • Extended Winter Contract: A full-length contract running from Nov 1st to Apr 30th, ensuring job stability and guaranteed hours through the winter months.
  • Guaranteed Minimum Hours: You’ll be guaranteed 40 working hours per semi-monthly pay period, regardless of snow conditions. This ensures a steady paycheck even during snowless periods.
  • Two Convenient Yard Locations: With yards located in Scarborough (EAST) and Toronto (WEST), you’ll have convenient access to your work site regardless of where you live in the GTA.

Job Features:

  • Operate Heavy-Duty Plow Trucks: Handle 10+ foot snow plows equipped with 3+ yard v-box spreaders, ensuring high-quality snow and ice removal services for your assigned commercial and residential properties.
  • On-Call Availability: You’ll need to be available to work 24/7, especially during snow events, which often occur overnight or on weekends.

Job Requirements:

  • Flexible Availability: Must be available for early morning, late night, and weekend shifts, as snow events require a fast and flexible response.
  • Local Commuting: Must live within 45 minutes of either the East or West yard locations to ensure timely arrival during snow events.
  • Commercial Snow Removal Experience: Minimum of 4 years of commercial snow removal experience. Experience in a supervisory or managerial role is a plus.
  • Outdoor Labor Experience: At least 5 years of physical labor requiring medium to heavy physical effort.
  • Driving Experience: 6+ years of insured commercial driving experience operating heavy-duty trucks (5500 series and up), including snow plows.
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to perform heavy manual labor in extreme weather conditions and operate snow removal equipment safely.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Your Phone 24/7: Stay connected for schedule updates, dispatch calls, and be ready to act immediately when weather events occur.
  • Lead Medium-Sized Crews: Manage 1-5 snowfighters on your team, ensuring they work efficiently and safely to complete snow removal tasks.
  • Operate Snow Plow Trucks: Take the lead in snow removal operations, ensuring that snow and ice are cleared from all assigned properties in a timely manner.
  • Quality Control: Oversee safety protocols, ensuring that work meets both safety and operational standards, providing the best service to our clients.
  • Assist with Equipment Maintenance: Perform pre and post shift equipment checks and minor maintenance (fueling, greasing, etc.) to ensure everything is in top condition for the next snow run.
  • Staff Scheduling and Coordination: Work with other team members to ensure all tasks are completed on time and according to service agreements. Provide one-on-one training and coaching where necessary.

  • Eligible for end of season performance bonus of up to $1000 (or more! based on performance competition)
  • Use of company vehicle for duration of contract as required for work obligations
  • No paperwork! Fully modern equipment with electronic logging
  • Must live within a maximum of 45 minutes commuting distance from our Scarborough Yard (EAST) or Toronto Office & Yard (WEST)
  • Yes, we have TWO yards (one in the East end and one in the West end)- which makes it easy to get to work regardless of where you live in the GTA

Job Requirements

  • This position requires early morning or late night starts, extended hours, and weekend duty including holidays
  • This position requires 24/7 availability to respond to weather events at any time of day or night
  • Having an open schedule is a must. We work according to the weather, so any time of day or night, if winter strikes we go out!
  • Minimum of 4 years commercial snow removal experience, with experience in a managerial or supervisory role considered an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years outdoor labour experience requiring medium to heavy physical effort
  • Minimum 6 years of insured driving experience with a G-level license
  • Minimum of 5 years commercial driving experience operating heavy-duty trucks such as 5500 series and up
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract provided upon acceptance of job offer (one minor infraction is okay)
  • Excellent winter driving abilities with any type of automatic transmission vehicle, often in tight or narrow quarters
  • Good verbal and written interpersonal communication and leadership skills
  • Excellent knowledge of consumer technology (Windows PC, Microsoft Office, Android Tablet, GPS Navigation, Smart Phone, Common Mobile Apps)
  • Must have a modern smart phone with a basic internet data plan and full text messaging/voice call capabilities
  • Able to operate equipment and machinery while monitoring multiple conditions and making multiple, complex, and rapid adjustments, such as hydraulic snow plow, salter, dump truck, snow blower, and snow shovel.
  • Able to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs in performing highly skilled movements such as operating vehicles and equipment controls, or climbing in and out of trucks.
  • Able to exert moderately heavy (up to 50 pounds) physical effort in moderate to heavy work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  • Able to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, forms, sounds, and textures associated with job-related objects, materials, and tasks.
  • This position requires the ability to perform heavy, manual labor safely, with a minimal degree of physical difficulty, effectively and efficiently.
  • Must be able to walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods; perform tasks which require hand-eye and arm-hand coordination, such as shifting gears on a vehicle or using a snowblower.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in basic English, although we have a very multi-lingual environment.
  • Must have ability to withstand exposure to seasonal winter conditions and work outside in cold weather, greasy or oily, dusty, or other outdoor conditions, as well as loud or unpleasant noises.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor your cell phone 24/7 in order to promptly and quickly respond to all schedule updates sent by dispatch via text message
  • Arrive to work at our yard in a speedy fashion when called upon, ready to go at a moments notice all winter long
  • Direct and manage medium-sized crews (4-6 people) while ensuring all assigned duties are performed properly and safely at all times throughout each shift
  • Ensure top-notch quality control and efficient completion of all work as required to meet service demands, time constraints, and operational deadlines
  • Assist with performance of routine equipment maintenance/repair tasks such as changing vehicle fluids, fueling, greasing, painting, etc.
  • Assist with complex opening and closing shift duties such as loading ice melter with a machine or directing groups of staff
  • Comply with and help enforce all safety precautions, operational procedures, directions, rules, policies, and regulations
  • Ensure all team members are following rules and directions at all times
  • Assist with one on one training and individual remediation as required
  • Assist with quality control services and one on one communications as required
